Han Zhang

My dissertation works on the literature and performance conducted in Wu dialect in the lower Yangtze river delta (Jiangnan) from the seventeenth century to nineteenth century. I am also interested in media studies, problems of translation, social and historical linguistics, as well as bilingualism. My research interests include late imperial literature and performance. I am particularly interested in the issue of language in understanding and reconstructing the relationship between text and performance.
